The Idea of creating a Centre for German-African Scientific cooperation was developed in 2008. As the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awarded its prestigious Reimar Lüst Prize to Professor David Simo, the Managing director of the Centre. The Centre, which was funded by the Thyssen Foundation, is located at the University of Yaoundé 1 where it is an institution of the Faculty of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences since 2010.

Core tasks of the Centre include:

  • Promoting excellence in research.
  • Promoting the cooperative knowledge production.
  • Promoting international communication and Cooperation.
  • Promoting education through interdisciplinary and international research.
  • Promoting collaboration, mutual information and exchange between institutions, students and researchers of the same scientific field.
  • Providing a technical appropriate documentation to researchers
  • Promoting the networking of scientific activities and research
